The master plan is a general land use plan prepared by the municipality. Its purpose is to organize the placement of various functions of the community, such as housing, services, workplaces, and recreational areas, as well as to arrange the connections between them. Master planning resolves the principles of desired development, and the master plan guides the preparation of local detailed plans for the area.

The technical sector’s land use unit is responsible for master planning in Janakkala. The plan is approved by the council.

Coastal Master Plans

There are numerous coastal detailed plans in effect in the areas of the coastal master plans, which are in force instead of the coastal master plans.
