Street lights
The municipality of Janakkala has approximately 4500 streetlights, of which about 400 are located on outdoor trails. About 80% of the lights are energy-saving LED lights. Street lighting is controlled by street lighting centers located in park transformers, distribution cabinets, and poles, of which there are about 80.
Almost all centers are equipped with remotely controllable devices, allowing the lights to operate simultaneously and at the right time everywhere. The lighting can also be controlled according to special needs.
The night shutdown of street lights was abandoned in the fall of 2024. The lighting in the municipality has transitioned to LED lighting in residential areas, and thus there is no longer a need for shutdowns. Additionally, due to the technology of the lights, shutdowns are detrimental.
The main roads of Turenki and Tervakoski, along with their lighting, are under the administration of the Uusimaa ELY Center, i.e., the state.
The summer shutdown of street lights is from May 8 to July 31, except for the main roads under the control of the ELY in Turenki and Tervakoski.
