Support and grants
The Welfare Committee approved the updated general principles for grants awarded by the municipality on June 13, 2024. The general principles concern:
- grants for village activity and community centers
- environmental grants
- welfare grants
- sports grants
- operational grants for cultural associations
The general distribution criteria do not apply to private road grants. The distribution criteria also do not apply to cultural event support or youth services support for youth activities, which are continuously open for applications throughout the year. Private road grants, cultural event support, or youth activity support are also not included in the 35% maximum limit for grants.
Application Timelines
Grants for the maintenance and improvement of private roads
The private road grants awarded by the municipality of Janakkala can now be applied for electronically. Note: After submitting the application, a Thank you for your application -message and a confirmation email will be sent. If no confirmation is received, please contact the Agricultural Office.
Grants can also be applied for by filling out a paper grant application form and returning it to the Janakkala Agricultural Office.
The application period for grants in 2025 is January 7 – February 28, 2025.

Other grants 2025
The application period for grants in 2025 is March 14 – April 15, 2025, at 15:00. The same form is used to apply for all available grants. You can apply for multiple grants using one application form by selecting all the types of grants you are applying for.
1. Grant for village activity and community centers
The village activity grant is a fixed amount awarded to all applicants for basic operations of the village. The application must specify the purpose or activity for which the grant is applied.
Grants for community center activities supporting village operations are given for the planning and labor services for basic renovations and material purchases. The grant is paid retrospectively based on actual expenses incurred. Receipts and an activity report must be submitted to the Welfare Committee for payment by the end of November 2025 at the latest.
The application period for grants in 2025 is March 14 – April 15, 2025, at 15:00.

2. Grant for projects promoting environmental protection or improving the environment
The supported activities must promote environmental, water, or nature conservation or the restoration of the environment, as well as activate residents from an environmental perspective. Such projects can include, for example, combating invasive species, cleaning the environment, or promoting environmental education. The criteria for distribution are the estimated environmental impacts of the activity being supported and the activation of residents. The project’s activities must be directed towards public areas of the municipality of Janakkala. Chemical pesticides may not be used in the control of invasive species.
The granted support for project-based events or purchases is paid retrospectively. Receipts must be presented upon request. The association or activity group must set goals for its activities and the key outputs by which it measures the results of the set activities. Receipts and an activity report must be submitted to the Welfare Committee for payment by the end of November 2025 at the latest.

3. Grant for operational activities of cultural associations
In 2024, a total of €10,000 will be granted for the activities of cultural associations. Grants will be awarded to registered cultural associations operating in Janakkala. The grant is intended for regularly organized cultural activities in which the majority of participants are residents of Janakkala. The operational grant for a cultural association can be a maximum of 35% of the association’s actual operational costs.

4. Sports grants

5. Welfare grant and grants from the elderly fund
Welfare grants are awarded annually to organizations for projects aimed at promoting the well-being and health of residents. The budget for the grant is €7,000, and the application period for grants in 2025 is March 14 – April 15, 2025, at 15:00.
Grants from the elderly fund can be distributed to associations and activity groups working to promote the well-being of the elderly residents of Janakkala. The budget is approximately €34,000. Grant applications are processed by the Elderly Council and approved by the Welfare Committee. The application period for grants in 2025 is March 14 – April 15, 2025.

Grants available throughout the year
1. Event support for cultural events
Support can be applied for organizing art and cultural events, such as concerts, themed days, and festivals in Janakkala. The maximum support amount for one event is €800. Event support has a continuous application period, but applications must be submitted at least two months before the planned date of the event. The cultural office of Janakkala distributes a total of €5,000 annually for organizing cultural events. Event support can only be awarded to the same applicant once in a calendar year. Event support is intended for associations or activity groups that do not receive operational support for cultural associations.

2. Support for youth activities
Support can be applied for using an electronic form throughout the year, but each applicant group can only receive one support per year. Support must be applied for at least two months before the planned activity.
The purpose of youth activity support is to strengthen diverse youth activities, enable recreational activities, diversify events planned and implemented by young people, and promote cooperation among various actors. Supported activities can include training events, youth events, camping activities, international activities, or the purchase of new equipment.
