Tervakoski
The Tervakoski factory was established in 1818. The village was built with the help of architects at the foot of the chimney, and the area is therefore still stylish. The Tervakoski urban area is conveniently located along the main road 3. It takes less than 20 minutes to drive to Hämeenlinna and Riihimäki, and about 20 km to Turenki. The village of Tervakoski has approximately 4,500 residents, with a total of 5,500 residents in the surrounding area.
Tervakoski is particularly known for its paper mill and Puuhamaa. The beautiful nature with its water bodies, outdoor areas, and proximity to the capital are Tervakoski’s strengths. Tervakoski also hosts the municipal swimming pool and the Tervakoski sports hall Delfort Arena, which was completed in 2021.
Tervakoski’s Suruton
The Tervakoski Suruton association was established in the autumn of 2009 to take care of the development of the Alasjärvi Suruton beach area. The area’s comfort has been improved with grants received from the EU and the municipality, which have been used to renovate the beach area’s buildings and increase its activities.
In the summer, the association organizes volunteer activities and public events. May Day Eve is celebrated in a picnic style, and on Midsummer Eve, traditional rosvopaisti is prepared, enjoying the summer day, and ending the evening with the lighting of the Midsummer bonfire.
During the summer, private individuals and associations can reserve the Suruton cabin for various events for a usage fee, and on Mondays, the sauna is heated for all willing bathers.
The ice swimming hobby has proven to be particularly popular, with the number of participants steadily increasing.
Through communal events, the association brings together both old and new residents of Tervakoski and creates new community spirit in the area.
