Municipal environmental protection authority
Janakkala’s environmental protection monitors compliance with waste management regulations and intervenes when necessary in the improper treatment of waste, such as properties not related to waste management, harmful composting, burning of waste, or littering. The primary cleaning responsibility always lies with the waste holder (the litterer), but secondarily with the landowner. Acute and severe violations are reported to the police.
Report littering to the municipal environmental services
Property-specific waste management was transferred to Kiertokapula Ltd on January 1, 2022. Kiertokapula Ltd is responsible for waste management service tasks, namely

The holder of the property is temporarily responsible for the transport of cardboard, glass, and metal packaging waste, paper, and sludge generated in housing.
Waste from business activities
For waste from business activities, transport can continue as before unless the waste is collected from the property together with waste generated in housing. Municipal waste generated in housing must, according to waste law, be handed over to transport organized by the municipality.
The area collection of packaging waste (glass, metal, cardboard, plastic) is managed by Finnish Packaging Recycling RINKI Ltd. Paper collection in the area is managed by Paperinkeräys Ltd and Janakkala Waste Transport.
At the Paja recycling point, the recycling and transport workshop Potkuri accepts electrical, electronic, and metal scrap, batteries, and fluorescent tubes. The recycling points are located outdoors, in Turenki at the address Taimistotie 4.
Kiertokapula Ltd accepts hazardous waste and organizes weekly collections of hazardous waste. In addition to weekly collections, larger collection campaigns for hazardous waste and metal scrap are organized.
In Janakkala, the primary disposal site for garden and raking waste is Kiertokapula’s Karanoja site, where garden waste can be taken for free. The Karanoja site is open five days a week and during peak times also on Saturdays.
The Paturi garden waste reception site also accepts some branches and leaves during its opening hours. Garden waste must be placed in its own piles. There should be no litter in the raking waste. If leaves are bagged, the bags must be emptied and the plastic taken away.
The Paturi garden waste reception site is open every last Thursday of the month from 8 AM to 4 PM, (in April-October from 8 AM to 6 PM). The reception site is located in Turenki, at the address Lastuvuorentie 11.
